Who we are

Spiteful Sloth LLC (“Spiteful Sloth,” “we,” “us”) is a digital marketing agency based in Chicago, Illinois. We operate the website at www.spitefulsloth.com (the “Site”). If you have questions about this policy, email us at hello@spitefulsloth.com.

Information we collect

Information you give us. When you submit our contact form, we collect your name, email address, company name (optional), the service you are interested in and the message you write. If you email us directly, we receive your email address and anything you include in your message.

Information collected automatically. Like most websites, our hosting provider records basic technical information when you visit, such as your IP address, browser type, device type, the pages you request, the referring page and the date and time of your visit. We use this information in aggregate to understand site traffic and keep the Site secure.

We do not ask for, and ask that you do not send us, sensitive information such as financial account numbers, government ID numbers or health information through the Site.

Cookies and tracking

The Site does not use advertising cookies or third-party tracking pixels, and we do not use the Site to build advertising profiles of visitors. Our site analytics are based on server logs rather than browser cookies. If we add cookies or tracking tools in the future, we will update this policy before doing so.

How we use your information

• To respond to your inquiry, prepare a quote or proposal and communicate with you about our services.
• To operate, maintain, secure and improve the Site.
• To detect and prevent spam, fraud and abuse.
• To comply with legal obligations and enforce our Terms of Service.

We will not add you to a marketing email list without your permission.

How we share information

We do not sell or rent your personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising. We share information only in these limited situations:

• Service providers who help us run the Site and our business, such as our website host and form-processing provider (Netlify) and our email provider. They may use your information only to provide services to us.
• Website fonts. The Site loads fonts from Google Fonts, which means your browser sends your IP address to Google when a page loads. Google’s use of that data is governed by its own privacy policy.
• Legal reasons, when required by law, subpoena or court order, or to protect the rights, property or safety of Spiteful Sloth, our clients or others.
• Business transfers, in connection with a merger, acquisition or sale of all or part of our business.

Client account data

When a business hires us, we may access its advertising, analytics and other marketing accounts to perform our services. That data is handled under the written agreement we sign with each client, not this policy.

How long we keep information

We keep contact form submissions and related correspondence for as long as needed to respond to you and manage any business relationship that follows, and then for a reasonable period for record-keeping, typically no more than three years after our last contact unless a longer period is required by law. Server log data is kept for a limited period by our hosting provider.

How we protect information

The Site is served over an encrypted (HTTPS) connection, and we limit access to personal information to people who need it to do their jobs. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Your privacy rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to ask us to tell you what personal information we hold about you, give you a copy, correct it, delete it or stop using it for certain purposes. Residents of California and other U.S. states with privacy laws, and visitors from the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland, may have additional rights under those laws, including the right to object to processing and to lodge a complaint with a data protection authority.

We honor these requests for all visitors regardless of where they live. To make a request, email hello@spitefulsloth.com. We may need to verify your identity before acting on it, and we will not discriminate against you for exercising your rights.

Where European data protection law applies, we rely on your consent or our legitimate interest in responding to business inquiries as the legal basis for processing your information. Our service providers may process information in the United States.

Children’s privacy

The Site is intended for businesses and is not directed to children under 13 (or under 16 where applicable). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has sent us information, contact us and we will delete it.

Third-party links

The Site may link to other websites, such as LinkedIn. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of those sites, and we encourage you to read their policies.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we will change the effective date at the top of this page. If the changes are significant, we will make reasonable efforts to give notice, such as a notice on the Site.
